Privacy Policy
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what information BuildQC (operated by Moyer Software) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. It applies to the BuildQC iOS app and website (the "Service").
2. Information We Collect
- Account information: your name, email address, company name, password (stored by Firebase Authentication in hashed form — we never see it), and role (Subcontractor, General Contractor, or Admin).
- Project content: checklists and templates, checklist answers, location names and labels, photos you attach to checklist items, and electronic signatures you draw when signing off a checklist.
- Technical information: authentication tokens and basic request metadata processed by our infrastructure provider to operate and secure the Service. We do not run third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
3. How We Use Information
- To operate the Service: authenticate you, show checklists to the right people based on role and assignment, generate PDF reports, and send emails you initiate (such as password resets and emailed reports).
- To maintain safety and security of the Service, including enforcing our access rules.
- We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising.
4. How Information Is Shared
- Within your project: checklist content is visible according to role — General Contractors and Admins can see all checklists, templates, and locations; Subcontractors see checklists assigned to them. Your name, company, and email are visible to other users in your project (for example, so a GC can assign work to you and receive your reports).
- Service providers: data is stored and processed by Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Cloud Storage), acting as our infrastructure provider. Google's handling of this data is governed by its own terms and data-processing agreements.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of users or the Service.
5. Data Storage and Security
Data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure. Access is protected by authentication and server-side security rules that restrict each user to the data their role permits. Photos and signatures are stored in access-controlled cloud storage. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we use commercially reasonable safeguards.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Content remains stored while it is part of an active project so that QC records stay available to your organization. Deleting a checklist removes its photos and signature from storage. To request deletion of your account and associated personal information, contact us at the address below; note that checklists and reports belonging to your organization's records may be retained by that organization.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. You can edit your name and company in the app ("Edit my info"), and you can contact us to exercise other rights.
8. Children
The Service is intended for use by construction professionals and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the effective date above.
